Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Argos Complete 2nd Half Comeback in Idaho

Caldwell, Idaho – After a one goal deficit at half, the University of Providence men's soccer teams scored two second half goals en route to a 2-1 victory.

The Argos (3-2, 5-2-1) got off to a sluggish start. The Yotes (1-3, 3-4) were the first one on the board after Ahmet Huremovic hit a penalty kick in the 15th minute.

"We didn't show up at all to start the match," head coach Matt Ball said. "Everything was exceptionally slow. Touches weren't there, we couldn't connect on passes. We were pretty lucky to only be down one at half. We put a fire in their belly at half time."

The Argos came out motivated in the second half. After a couple of missed chances, they evened things out in the second half with a goal from Manuel Garcia, who headed it in off an assist by Alain Murhula. The Argos then took the lead off of Fernando Gutierrez's header from a corner kick from Seamus Quinn.

"We got some responses from some guys in the second half," Ball said. "We controlled a majority of the half. We had a number of chances. For awhile it looked like one of those days where nothing was going to fall. They responded and reacted when they needed too. Thankfully we scored some goals when we needed too."

The Argos took 14 shots, seven of which were on goal. The Yotes attempted six shots, two of which were on goal.

The Argos will take the field again tomorrow, when they face Eastern Oregon (1-2, 3-4-1) at 6:30.

"If we start like that again, we'll find that we can't always dig ourselves out of these holes," Ball said. "Our focus now is to play a game for 90 minutes, not 45."
