Caldwell, Ida. – The Providence women's soccer team dropped a tough loss to College of Idaho on Friday, losing 2-0.
College of Idaho (1-2, 2-3-2) didn't score their first goal until Madison Glascock kicked one in off the long through ball from Payton Mongelli with 27 minutes remaining. The Yotes found the back of the net 10 minutes later when Brynna Herridge scored.
"We came out slow," head coach
Brian Clarke. "We picked it up at the end of the first half but didn't' capitalize on our opportunities. They had a breakaway in the second half off a counter and killed any chance we had at getting some of our own momentum."
The Yotes took 17 shots, 10 of which were on goal. The Argos took 10 shots, six of which were on goal, and including two shots off the crossbar.
Eme McLaughlin led the team with five shots, three of which were on target.
"We weren't without our opportunities," Clarke said. "We hit two off the crossbar and their keeper made some really good plays. But we have to find a way to complete these opportunities. We're right there but we have to be able to convert."
The Argos have a quick turn-around as they'll make a two-hour trip up to La Grande, Oregon to face #6 Eastern Oregon (2-0-1, 5-0-2) tomorrow at 4 p.m.
"I told the team if we're taking these long trips and missing school, we have to make it worth it," Clarke said. "We need to come out with some fire, take advantage of our opportunities and put a game together for 90 minutes."
