Wrestling Prepares for Conference Dual

Match Will Take Place at Great Falls Central Catholic High School

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's wrestling team looks to build off recent conference momentum when they take on Warner Pacific in a conference dual on Friday.

The dual, which will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Great Falls Central Catholic High School, will consist of two exhibition matches from the women's wrestling team before the men's dual will take place.

The men's team is coming off a trip at the Grandview Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. The Argos entered six athletes into the open division. Five of them placed, including a 2nd place finish from Shonn Roberts.

"We felt like we competed very well at the Grandview Tournament," interim head coach Steve Komac said. "We feel like that tournament is not as tough as the national tournament, but it's definitely in the running as far as the caliber that we'll see. Placing five out of the six is really good."

The Argos will hope to have a more complete team this weekend, as they've battled the injury bug early in the season.

"We're trying to heal up," Komac said. "We get a couple more back this week. We're hoping that after Thanksgiving we'll get everybody back in the lineup. We've just been trying to work hard but keep a good attitude."

Komac is excited for the matchup against the Knights. He believes they'll be particularly tough in the lower to middle weight class, particularly at 133, 141 and 149.

"They've got a few pretty scrappy kids in those weight classes," he said. "We're pretty competitive in there too so I think those will be pretty good matches in the dual. It's another conference dual and that's great. We're glad they're coming."
