No. 22 Argos Edged on Road Against No. 7 Saints, 72-67

HELENA, Mont. – No. 22 Argo men's basketball (17-10, 8-8 Frontier) fell on the road in Helena to the Frontier Conference leader, the No. 7 Saints (23-5, 12-4 Fontier).
 
Four Argos scored in double-digits lead by Jaxen Hashley tied for a game-high 19, in addition to six boards and a steal. Austin Starr narrowly missed a double-double, leading the team with 11 rebounds, while also tallying nine points. Jack Taylor, Brandon Cotton, and D'Shea Williams notched 13, 11 and 10 points respectively.
 
Jovan Slijivancanin, a freshman and native of Serbia, paved the way for the Saints as he tied with Hashley for a game-high 19 points, while adding a game-high 19 rebounds for the Saints. Match Burnham tallied 16 points, in addition to five boards and an assist.
 
The opening half was equally matched as the Argos and Saints traded advantages. With Carroll holding a 34-32 lead with three and a half minutes to play, Providence's Williams and Taylor combined for 9 points before the intermission to send the Argos into halftime with a 41-38 lead.
 
Following three ties and six lead changes through most of the second half, the game remained even at 64 with less than three minutes to play. The Argos struggles defensively in the waning moments of the game as the Saints were able to knock down their looks down the stretch, producing an 8-3 run to close the game and grab the 72-67 win.
 
Up Next
The Argos return home next weekend as they host the Western Bulldogs on Friday, February 22 before taking on the Lewis-Clark Warriors on Saturday, February 23 for Senior Night. Tip-off for both games is set for 7:30 p.m.
