Maldonado's Career Weekend Garners Frontier Player of the Week Honors

WHITEFISH, Mont. – Following a weekend of two top-25 upsets and a career-high 31-point performance against No. 21 Rocky Mountain College, Emilee Maldonado was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

The Argos had a perfect weekend as they knocked off No. 8 Carroll College on Friday, 56-53, and then followed it up with a 64-60 victory over No. 21 Rocky Mountain College. Against the Battlin' Bears, Maldonado had a breakout performance as she netted a career-high 31 points, shooting 57 percent from the field and 66 percent from long-range. She also tallied six assists, two boards, and a steal. On Friday, Maldonado netted a game-high 18 points, while grabbing five boards, dishing out five assists, and securing two steals in the Argos matchup against the Saints.

Maldonado ranks ninth in the nation, first in the Frontier, in total assists this season with 126, while also ranking 11th nationally in assists per game, averaging 5.25 per contest. She also slots in at 17th in the nation in scoring this season and second in the Frontier, totaling 398 points and an average of 16.58 per game.

The accolade marks the second for the sophomore guard and the sixth of the season for the Argos.

The Argos travel to Havre, Montana on Wednesday, February 6 for a road tilt against the MSU-Northern Skylights (10-14, 2-10 Frontier) before returning to the Electric City on Saturday, February 9 as they host the Montana Tech Orediggers (12-11, 2-10 Frontier). Tip-off for both matchups is set for 6 p.m.
