GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Argo wrestling head coach
Caleb Schaeffer announced on Monday the addition of California native, Trevor Downey, to the 2019-20 team.
Downey, from Etna, California, was a tri-sport athlete at Etna Union High School, competing in football, baseball, and wrestling. On the mat, Downey was a three-time team captain for the Lions, garnering 41 wins during the 2018-19 season and claimed a third-place finish at the Northern Section California Interscholastic Federation (NSCIF) state championships. Downey was also an honor roll recipient and has maintained a 3.5 GPA throughout his high school career. As an Argo, Downey will compete in the 141-pound weight class.
"Coming from a small school and community in Etna, California, I really connected with the family atmosphere and environment of Argo wrestling and with coach Schaeffer," expressed Downey. "I feel like I can really succeed both athletically and academically here at Providence."
