Concordia Portland Transfer Bailey Cartwright Signs with Argo Women's Basketball

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Argo women's basketball head coach Bill Himmelberg announced the signing of Concordia University Portland, an NCAA Division II institution, transfer Bailey Cartwright on Monday.

Cartwright, a graduate transfer and native of Pasco, Washington, graduated from Chiawana High School and joins the Argos after a successful career at NCAA D-II Concordia University Portland. She will be a huge addition for the Argos, joining junior Parker Esary to dominate the post in 2019-20.

"We are extremely excited to have Bailey join us," Himmelberg said of Cartwright, whose sister, Kenedy Cartwright, already plays basketball for the Argos.

In high school, she was a four-year letterwinner with the Riverhawks, served as a team captain during her junior and senior seasons, and was named first team all-conference as a senior.

As a Cavalier, Cartwright played in 82 games with Concordia, starting in all but four contests during her freshman and junior seasons. During the Cavalier's 2017-18 season, she was named First Team All-Conference in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and averaged a double-double with 13.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest, in addition to shooting 48 percent from the field and 72 percent from the line.

Cartwright will be joining a program that has qualified for the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship field four times over the past five seasons. The Argos are fresh off a stellar 2018-19 season that saw them secure victories over seven top-25 opponents, all of which helped make up the 32-team national tournament field.

"It is not often that you get a First Team All-Conference student-athlete to join your program. Bailey will be an immediate impact player in our program and will help us to make a bigger splash in the NAIA and Frontier Conference next season."
