Great Falls, Mont.- Wet cool weather was the norm for the University of Providence Golf Invite, despite that, the scores were good for the first golf match of the season. Head Coach and Tournament Director, Spencer Williams said the Eagle Falls Golf Course, in Great Falls, "Played wet, long, and gave golfers a chance to get some good scores if they could read the slow greens."
University of Providence had a good showing in both the men and women's side, despite not having enough eligible players to gather a team score. Best for the UP men was Ben Kaul. Ben is a sophomore from CMR High School in Great Falls. He started the tournament shooting 74 / 67 before coming back on Tuesday and scoring a 66 to finish the tournament in second place with a total score of 207. Kaul was 5 strokes off the lead golfer, Sean Ramsbacher, from MT Tech.
Three points separated the top three men's teams. The team trophy went to Mt Tech with a team total of 881 closely followed by Lewis and Clark 882 and Rocky 883.
Team trophy for the women was Rocky with a two-day total of 636 followed by L/C State 650 and Mt Tech 693. Individually, Harley Derrickson and Morgan O'Neil, both from Rocky, finished the tournament tied with total score of 154. It took a playoff hole for Derrickson to win the playoff and take home the gold trophy for 2019.
Top women's finisher for the Argos was Catrina Babinecz with a total of 175 tying her for 18th place.
