KANSAS CITY, MO. – The University of the Providence men's wrestling team moved up two spots in the third National Poll of the season to the #12 spot.
"It's an honor to be getting this sort of national recognition," interim head coach
Steve Komac said. "The kids have worked hard to get to this point. The exciting part is we feel we're just now getting healthy, so we're hoping to take a leap forward as we prepare for the rest of the season."
The Argos received a total of 63 points from the raters, just one point behind Southeastern and Menlo, who are tied for the #10 spot. Coincidentally, the Argos lost to Southeastern 18-22 in Prescott, Arizona and will face Southeastern in the first dual of the National Duals this weekend in Louisville.
Several individual wrestlers were also ranked as well.
Shonn Roberts moved up one spot to the #3 ranking in the 149 lb. weight class.
Casey Dobson was ranked #4 in the 157 lb. weight class while Boone Giulio was ranked #20 in the same class.
John Hensley moved up two spots to the #6 ranking in the 197 lb. class.
Jordan Komac is ranked #10 in the 165 lb. weight class, while
Hayden Schrull is ranked #20 at the 184 lb. weight class.
The Argos have a busy two weeks ahead of them. They will travel to Louisville this weekend for National Duals, and then will head to the Missouri Valley Invitational the following weekend.
