HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team fell to #17 Carroll 75-58 Thursday evening.
The Fighting Saints got off to a hot start, taking a 44-33 lead into halftime. Down 17 entering the 4
th quarter, the Argos fought valiantly but couldn't overcome the deficit.
The Saints outrebounded the Argos 34-28. Providence also committed 19 turnovers compared to the Saints' 10.
"They got a lot of second chances," head coach
Bill Himmelberg said. "We didn't rebound as well as we needed too. They got way too many extra shots."
The Argos played without
Bailey Cartwright, who was out with a sickness.
Parker Esary led the Argos with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Kenedy Cartwright added 14 points.
Danielle Wagner led the Fighting Saints with 20 points. Sienna Swannack and Christine Denny both chipped in 14.
The Argos move to 8-9 in conference They will face Montana State-Northern on Saturday in Great Falls for senior night at 5:30 p.m.
"We just have to stay together and stay positive," Himmelberg said. "We have to share the ball a little bit better offensively. We're way better at home. We just have to follow the game plan and execute offensively the way we know how to."
