MINOT, S.D. – The University of Providence softball team dropped the final two games of the Minot State Dome Tournament.
In the early game of the day, the Argos fell to Valley City State 21-4. The Argos fell behind 9-1 after three innings, but the Vikings scored 12 runs in the 6
th inning.
In the second game, the Argos scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. However the Bluehawks scored two runs in both the 4
th and 5
th innings to secure a 4-1 victory.
"In the second game we hit a lot of hard line drives and well-struck balls directly at people," head coach
Joey Egan said. "We probably eight solid shots to the fence-line that were caught. The last game wasn't too bad we just got a little unlucky with the placement of some of those shots."
The Argos will take to the field in their home opener this Friday, Mar. 6 at 1 p.m. against Southern Oregon.
"We talked about how we played better as the weekend went on," Egan said. "The way we were hitting the ball we maybe could have came back, it just didn't go our way. We had good moments, and we have to build off those moments. Sometimes the ball doesn't go your way, but there was enough positives to gain some momentum from."
