WHITEFISH, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team had nine student-athletes qualify for the
Frontier Conference Academic All-Conference team, the league announced on Friday.
Kenedy Cartwright,
Parker Esary,
Reed Hazard,
Emilee Maldonado,
Kerstyn Pimperton,
Jenna Randich,
Molly Schmitz,
Elly Teske and
Brittany White were nine of the 40 Frontier Conference athletes to qualify for the team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in the school for the previous two semesters.
"We're just thrilled with our girls in the classroom," head coach
Bill Himmelberg said. "They're committed to being great in the classroom and on the basketball court. Our girls take really tough classes and are in tough majors, so for nine of them to make the team is pretty awesome."
The Argos boast the largest number of student-athletes on the team from the conference with nine. Montana Tech has the second highest with eight.
"The whole conference is always tough in everything they do," Himmelberg said. "Not only with basketball but with academics also. That's pretty nice that we were able to get nine on there and it just shows that we are committed to academic excellence."
Cartwright, Esary and Randich are all business administration majors. Maldonado, Pimperton, Teske and White are all biology majors, while Hazard and Smith are psychology majors.
"When you have girls that do good in the classroom and are able to go to graduate schools to reach their goals and accomplish what they want to accomplish, it just sets your program up to continue to get great kids," Himmelberg said. "I'm really proud of them and all their hard work this year."
