Argos Prepare for Frontier Conference Championship Game

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team will travel to Lewis-Clark State for the Frontier Conference Championship game on Tuesday. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

The Argos (20-12) haven't appeared in the Frontier Conference Championship Game since the 2015-2016, when they lost to Lewis-Clark State 79-73.

"It's just exciting," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "It's the first time we've been here in a while. We have a chance to go play for a conference tournament. It's not something that happens every year. It's an exciting time. Our girls are focused and locked in and ready to go."

The Argos are coming off an incredible comeback victory against Carroll in the Frontier Conference Semifinals Saturday night. Down 15 at half, the Argos outscored the Fighting Saints 43-21 in the second half to secure the 73-66 victory.

The win marked the seventh win over the last nine games for the Argos. The run includes a 73-65 win over the Warriors in Idaho.

"There's no big secrets," Himmelberg said. "We've just been working hard and trying to get better every day. We've been a little bit more focused and everyone is on the same page. We're playing together and we're playing for each other. It's fun seeing them peak right now."

The Argos are 1-2 against the Warriors on the season. The Warriors won the first two games of the season series, before the Argos beat them on their home floor on Feb. 13.

"The big thing is they move the ball really well," Himmelberg said. "We're going to have to take control of their ball movement a little bit. We have to make sure we get back a little bit. They really try to transition well so we have to make sure we do a good job with that. Rebounding is always a key for us. They're a good rebounding team. We're going to have to try and control the boards a little bit."

Despite the recent momentum, Himmelberg still believes the team has another level that they can get reach.

"We still haven't played our best basketball yet," he said. "We played a good second half at Carroll, but hopefully we can put it all together tomorrow night."
