Eddy's Goal Leads Argos Past Lions

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's soccer team took down Multnomah on Friday, defeating the Lions (1-10, 0-9) 1-0. The win comes after the team had two weeks off due to COVID-19 protocols.

Hannah Eddy scored the lone goal for the Argos (2-11, 2-8) in the 33rd minute, finding the back of the net off a beautiful through ball from Shawnae Inama

"We did a lot of the things well that we did in training," head coach Heather Blandford said. "It looked a little bit like we were on a break for a little while with our speed of play, but we dug deep. You could clearly tell that the girls wanted it. We worked hard to get the ball in the back of the net and I'm really proud that we were able to come out after the break and get a win."

The Argos outshot the Lions 21 to four. Dani Chang led the way with five shots, while Eddy, Tihanee Freitas and Megan Haugen recorded three. Justine Humphry started in the net, recording one save.

The team will have to put this one behind them, as they take on Warner Pacific tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. The day will also serve as Senior Day for the program's five seniors, who will be honored in a special presentation immediately following the game.

"We have to really dial in tomorrow," Blandford said. "We have to do a little bit better job of focusing on the little things. Our off the ball movement and work have to increase. We still need to be a little bit harder defensively. We really want to continue to get back to those team concepts that we've been focusing on."
