Argos Fall to Red-Hot Knights in Final Home Game of the Year

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team fell to Warner Pacific 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Great Falls, Mont.

The Knights (13-2, 10-1) got on the board early, scoring in the 4th minute when Hunter Leach found the back of the net off the assist from Christian Bahena. The Argos (3-9-1, 3-7-1) responded with their own goal three minutes before the half, when George Almeida scored off the rebound of Vincent Stoppel's shot.

Matias Castano gave the Knights the lead for good in the 56th minute with a goal. Bahena solidified the victory by scoring his own goal in the 72nd minute to make it 3-1.

"It was a tough turnaround for us," interim head coach Michael Rahn said. "We had some injuries from Friday. I'm pretty disappointed that we couldn't send our seniors out on a winning note. They played their hearts out and I'm proud of the effort they put out on the field."

The Knights outshot the Argos 17-4. Evan Scholes got the start in the net, recording three saves on the afternoon.

The Argos will return to the field on Friday in a road matchup against Carroll in the final week of the season. The game will be played in Helena, Mont. and will begin at 1:00 p.m.

"Warner Pacific is a good side and they've been cruising," Rahn said. "We took a defeat today but we'll learn from it and get better. This game against Carroll will be a good test for us."
