PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The University of Providence women's basketball team fought off a late comeback attempt from Embry-Riddle, defeating the Eagles (1-1) 70-60 Monday night in Prescott, Ariz.
The Argos (1-1) jumped off to a quick 11-0 start, which helped the Argos gain a 33-25 halftime edge. However the Eagles stormed back in the second half, managing to take a four-point lead over the Argos with 3:32 remaining.

Reed Hazard hit back to back three-pointers to give the Argos the lead for good.
"We found a way to win," head coach
Bill Himmelberg said. "We were down by four with two minutes to go and we found a way to win. I'm proud of our kids and proud of the effort they made tonight. We got some things we need to clean up and get better at but it's a good start to the road trip."
Hazard led the way for the Argos (1-1), draining five three-pointers en route to a career-high 23-points. She added seven rebounds, and four steals to the performance.
Parker Esary notched a double-double, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. Harn added 11 points while
Emilee Maldonado added 10.
"Reed stepped up and made some big shots when we were struggling a little bit," Himmelberg said. "I thought she did a good job. She hit a big shot near the end of the game when we needed it."
Susie Reynoso led the Eagles with 23 points and four assists, while Zakiirah King added 20 points and seven rebounds.
The game marks the first game of a four-game road trip for the Argos. The squad will head south to Phoenix to take on Arizona Christian on Wednesday, before traveling to California for a weekend double-header.
"It's going to be a difficult road trip," Himmelberg said. "All the games are tough. Arizona Christian is really good. Hopefully we'll be a little bit more rested than we were today, and hopefully we'll come out a little bit better. We have need to take care of the ball better if we're going to have some success on this trip."
The game against the Firestorm will tip off at 7:00 p.m. MTN.
