WHITEFISH, Mont. – After
finishing fourth at the Providence Open on Friday,
Nash Grafe has been named the Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Male Cross Country Runner of the Week.
"I'm very excited for him to get this honor," Arntson said. "Nash has been very smart this season and he's healthy for the first time since the first half of his freshman year. He's worked hard. He's our team leader. It's really going to boost his confidence more than anything going into this final stretch now."
Grafe finished the 8K at Anaconda Hills, one of the toughest courses in the state, with a time of 29:34.2 Grafe finished fourth of 17 runners, and finished behind three runners from Montana State-Billings. Carson Jessop won the race at 29:12.
"He ran an extremely fast first mile, which was too fast, but I like to see him come out and be aggressive," Arntson said. "He went after it, and was able to compete well with the MSUB kids who are very, very talented. I thought he handled the course well."
Grafe will get a chance to see where he's at against conference foes this weekend at the Yellowjacket Open in Billings this Friday. The race will kick off at 11:00 a.m.
