GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Five players scored in double-figures Saturday night as the #10 University of Providence men's basketball team raced past Montana Tech 99-80.
Despite the score, the game was within single-digits for a majority of the game. The Argos were up 63-61 with nine minutes remaining when
Rashee Stocks hit back to back three pointers, opening the game up and allowing the Argos to end the game on a big run.
"It was a crazy game until Rashee hit those threes," head coach
Steve Keller said. "We fouled too much, but they're hard to guard."
Marcus Stephens led the Argos in the scoring department, recording 21 points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists. Three days after recording a career-high 21 points, Stocks notched 20 points while pulling down five boards.
Zaccheus Darko-Kelly finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
Jaxen Hashley recorded 13 points and four rebounds, while
Davien Harris-Williams scored 11 points.
Cap Uzan aided the effort by recording 10 assists.
"Our guys are still learning to play with each other," Keller said. "We're starting to find the open guy. We got 23 assists tonight which is a great number."
The Argos (9-1, 9-1) have no room to get complacent, as the two teams face off again tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. The Orediggers (9-8, 9-6) are currently third in the league, and a win tomorrow would aid their chances of securing the second spot.
"They're one of the best teams in our league," Keller said. "They're going to come in here and try to get one win. We have to be ready. This is going to be a big game for us tomorrow."
