Argos Complete Second Rodeo of the Season in Miles City

MILES CITY, Mont. – The University of Providence rodeo team completed their second rodeo of the year this season on Saturday at the Miles Communtiy College Rodeo in Miles City, Mont. No Argos made it to the short round Saturday evening.

The team faced the same breakaway calves that were used last week in Billings, but struggled roping them. The team also competed in the barrel racing, but didn't have anyone advance to the short round.

"We didn't capitalize on it," head coach Sylvan La Cross said. "We're roping calves that are twice as fast as these ones. We have to figure out why we can't get these ones roped."

The weekend gave the Argos a good indication of what they need to focus on as they prepare to host their home rodeo this coming weekend.

"The biggest thing that we need to work on is to go out and capitalize on our opportunities that we have," La Cross said. "Most of our kids are seasoned so we need to quickly get back into a rhythm and compete the way we know. We're really looking forward to it."

"Overall the kids are pretty focused," La Cross said. "With graduation on the horizon, we have to keep them focused. Our rodeo is coming up and that's going to be our primary focus from a rodeo perspective. It's going to be extremely hard to keep them focused when they have so much going on in the next two weeks."

The University of Providence home rodeo will kick off on April 23.
