BILLINGS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team fell to Rocky Mountain College 2-0 Monday afternoon.
The Battlin' Bears (7-0, 7-0) got on the board first when Finn Lane found the back of the net in the seventh minute. The two teams remained even when Sky Swenson scored in the 65
th minute off the Jonah Gronmayer assist.
"We did not play very well," interim head coach Daniel Burstein said. "We were very flat. We didn't have a lot of energy. We weren't really stopping the things that we knew that they were going to do. We didn't play our game. It was quite a slower game for both teams. There wasn't a whole lot of energy out on the field."
The Battlin' Bears outshot the Argos (3-2-2) 15-5.
Manu Garcia led the team with two attempts, both of which were on goal. Defensively
Evan Scholes recorded five saves for the Argos.
"We knew they had a couple dangerous players and we shouldn't give them space," Burstein said. "And then we gave them space. We were slow to react to them getting the ball and allowed them to go. We wanted to put some pressure on their midfielders and we really weren't doing that."
The Argos will get another chance to take down the undefeated Bears tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the final game of the season.
"We have to come out and play with some heart," Burstein said. "We need to play with some excitement. We need to be on our toes and be sharp and alert as opposed to letting the game happen. That can make the biggest difference. We just kind of need to embrace how we play the game and get back to that.'
