Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Argos Fall to Battlin' Bears on the Road

BILLINGS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's soccer team fell to Rocky Mountain College 3-0 Monday afternoon.

Halle Labert got the Battlin' Bears (3-4, 3-4) on the board first with a penalty kick in the sixth minute. The Bears score again in the 20th minute off a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Labert scored on another penalty kick in the 83rd minute to expand the lead to three.

"I thought we had some good scoring opportunities," head coach Brian Clarke said. "I think we limited their number of shots. Two of their goals came on penalty kicks and the other one a corner."

The Argos (0-7, 0-7) took nine shots on goal, including four on target. Soraya Alfaro led the Argos in shots with two.

"We've been working on creating opportunities in training," Clarke said. "We're getting some but we still need to be better in the final third. That's what we talked about to the team after the game. We need to take care of those opportunities when we do get them."

The Battlin' Bears took nine shots, including six on target. Jenna Evertz recorded three saves on the day.

The two teams will meet again at 1:00 p.m. The game will be the final game of the season for the Argos.

"We just want to keep building upon what we've been working on through trainings and try to see that final product again tomorrow," Clarke said. "I don't know if there's any adjustments we need to make. We've just focused on playing one game at a time. That's been our mentality. We're just trying to get better each game."
