GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Ben Kaul and Kielar Jones both finished in the top ten at the Argo Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Meadow Lark Country Club.

Both Kaul and Jones finished tied for ninth. Kaul shot a 77 in the final round, ending up in a three-way tie for ninth with a score of 229 (+13). Jones shot an 89, the same score she shot yesterday, to finish in a tie for 9th at 178 (+34). This is the first time Jones has finished in the top ten at a conference event in her career.

"I'm very pleased with her play," head coach Spencer Williams said. "She eliminated some of the big numbers from last week. I'm very proud of her. For Ben, I know he wanted to do better. All in all, he had a pretty good tournament to take a top ten. We'll continue to work towards moving up as the season goes on."

As a team, the Argos' men finished in fourth place with a 962, six strokes behind third-place Carroll College. Rocky Mountain College won the event with an 873, 13 strokes ahead of Montana Tech (892). Rocky Mountain also won the women's event with a 644. The Argo women did not have enough participants to qualify for a team score.

Connor Mora ended up finishing 15th, shooting an 83 on the final round to finish at +25 over for the day. Colton Stodghill was three strokes behind Mora, finishing 17th. Jake Henderson (+36)  finished 23rd, Trenton Olson (+38)  finished 25th, while Josh Warp (+41) finished 26th.

"We have some promising young guys who I expect to keep improving as the season goes on," Williams said. "We need to work on eliminating the bigger numbers, the big mistakes. We know that every score counts, so we really have to play as a team and work together."

On the women's side, Kate Murack cut off 16 strokes off her round yesterday, shooting a 91 on Tuesday to end up in 20th place. She finished with a 198.

The Argos will head to Laurel Country Club in Billings, Mont. next Monday for a two-day event hosted by Montana State-Billings.

"We'll continue to learn from how we played at these past two tournaments," Williams said. "We need to continue to improve like we have been. I'm excited to see how this group evolves as the season goes on."
