Argos Tie Geoducks on Second Day of Road Trip

OLYMPIA, Wash. – On the second game of the first conference road trip of the season, the University of Providence men's soccer team tied Evergreen State 0-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Argos (1-3-1, 1-1-1) outshot the Geoducks (0-6-1, 0-3-1) 24 to ten on the day, but couldn't put one in the net to get a result.

"We missed a lot of opportunities," interim head coach Michael Rahn said. "That was kind of the definition of the game. They got momentum, they were playing well. We tried and tried and tried but never was able to put one in the net. We missed an opportunity to get a result."

George Almeida led the team with eight shots, two of which were on goal, while Mika Lukas Lankhof had four of his six shots on target. Evan Scholes started in the net for the Argos, recording three saves on the day.

The tie comes after another overtime game on Friday, where the Argos fell to Northwest off of a penalty kick in the second overtime period. Despite the lack of results on the weekend, Rahn believes the team has a ton to build off of.

"We were playing our best soccer that we've played all year," he said. "We controlled the game today we controlled the ball. We had a lot of opportunities to score but couldn't put it in the net unfortunately. Some games are like that."

The Argos will take the field again next weekend, when they host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon this weekend. Both games will start at 1:00 p.m. MTN at Argo Field.

"We're still working on improving," Rahn said. "The results don't show it, but this weekend was a big step forward for us."
