Klamath Falls, Ore. - Kiah Wetzel scored a brace in the first half, Maddie Miller had a brace in the second half and the Owls of Oregon Tech beat the University of Providence in women's soccer 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Klamath Falls. Wetzel scored in the third minute of the match and added her second goal just four minutes later to give OIT a 2-0 lead at intermission. Miller tallied in the 51st and 85th minutes. Tihanee Freitas scored the lone Argo goal off a corner kick in the final minute. OIT outshot Providence 24-8 and tallied nine shots on goal to the Argos five. Freitas and Dani Chang each had two shots in the loss which drops the Argos to 1-6-1 overall, 1-3-1 in Cascade Conference play. Reilyn Davis took the loss after allowing three goals on seven shots.
Also Saturday in Klamath Falls, Cade O'Neill found the back of the net twice to help lift the OIT men past Providence 6-0. Ellis Hardwood got the scoring going early for the Owls, with a goal in the ninth minute with O'Neill scoring his first 1:15 later in the period. The Owls scored three times in each half and had 22 shots to the Argos three and accumulated a 10-2 advantage in SOG. Mika Lankhof and Kolby Hayes got shots on goal for Providence which falls to 0-5-1 overall, 0-4-1 in CCC action.
The men and women return home before heading back west next weekend for matches at Eastern Oregon and the College of Idaho.
