Tomeu Nebot scores in 2-1 loss

Jason Walker, UP Sports Information Director

Great Falls, Mont. - Bushnell University (Ore.) came out with a 2-1 win over the University of Providence men's soccer team Friday afternoon in Great Falls as a Caleb Burke goal in the 54th minute snapped a 1-1 tie. Burke's goal, his 10th of the year, came after Argo goalkeeper Dante Montgomery could not contain a previous shot and Burke took advantage to net the game-winner. The score was tied at the half thanks to a Jorge Lopez goal in the 23rd minute that gave the Beacons an early lead, only to see Argo Tomeo Nebot score on a header off the foot of Mika Lankhof to tie up the match.

Both teams battled through the full 90 minutes in the Cascade Conference matchup. Bushnell had eight shots in each half to outshoot Providence 16-6 overall, with a slim 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Burke finished with five shots total while Alejandro Munoz added four. Diego Montes Carrero stopped four of the five shots he faced to get the victory. Nebot led Providence with three shots, all on goal while Lankhof had four shots in the match. The Argos battled but came up short says Head Coach Will Hander, "That was a tough loss. We will regroup and get ready for tomorrow."

The Argos will host Corban University (Ore.) Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM MDT. The Warriors were 5-2 winners Friday at Rocky Mountain. Follow live stats and stream the match at www.upargos.com.
