Great Falls, Mont. - It was a tale of two halves Friday afternoon at Argo Field as the University of Providence women's soccer team found itself down 2-0 at the half. 45 minutes later, it was a 3-2 Argo victory over Bushnell University (Ore.) in Cascade Conference play.
Dejah Wallot scored a brace in the first half with both goals coming on assists from Karla Cardinal in the 19th and 33rd minutes. That was good enough to give the winless Beacons the lead heading into the locker rooms. Providence got on the board just over two minutes into the second half on a goal by Brittany Burman off an assist from Dani Waialeale. 14 minutes later, Dani Chang tallied the equalizer with Ernestina Serwaa Ofori assisting. Ofori scored the eventual game-winner in the 74th minute, breaking past the defender and scoring the first goal of her college career. Kaitlyn Sisler earned the win in the net producing two saves on four shots. Chang and Serwaa Ofori each were credited with four shots, and a combined five shots on goal (SOG). In total, Providence outshot Bushnell 17-9, including a 10-4 advantage in SOG. All three of Wallot's shots were on goal for the Beacons who fall to 0-13 overall, 0-8 in CCC play.
Argos Head Coach Heather Blandford used a motivational speech at halftime to fire her team up and it worked, "Coming from behind to secure the win showed what this team is capable of when we are willing to put in the work. We let ourselves down with the effort and intensity we displayed as a team in the first half. I am proud that we were able to talk about it at half time, own it as a team, and demand better for ourselves. I could not be prouder of our second half effort. The challenge for us moving forward is finding a way to perform at that level for a full 90."
Providence is now 2-8-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the Cascade with the victory, earning a critical three points in the standings.
