Portland, Ore. - The wait is over for the University of Providence men's soccer team after the Argos picked up the first win of the Will Hander era with a come-from-behind 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Multnomah. The Argos fell behind 1-0 after a Michael Appiah goal in the 21st minute. With eight minutes remaining in the first half, Jack Rimstad scored the equalizer to even the score at 1-1 headed into the half. That score did not last long in the second half as Mika Lankhof scored what turned out to be the game winner just three minutes in and the Argo defense held on with goalkeeper Dante Montgomery making late stops to lift Providence to its first victory of the 2022 season.

Providence and Multnomah played even all match with the Argos getting 11 shots, five on goal, while the Lions had 10 shots with seven coming on goal. Montgomery made six saves in total. Rimstad led the team with five shots, while Tomeu Nebot assisted on both Argo tallies. Hander says it was a total team effort Saturday, "I am extremely proud of the guys. We finally put together 90 minutes. I know it has been a battle this year for the guys with injuries and losing but they deserve this feeling of victory. Looking forward to carrying this momentum into next weekend.

Providence, (1-10-1, 1-8-1), closes the season next weekend with home matches against Walla Walla University and Carroll College.
