Great Falls, Mont. - It will be a night many will remember for a long time when the top ranked and defending National Champion Thomas More Saints come to the Electric City for a matchup with the University of Providence women's basketball team Saturday night.
Thomas More won the 2022 NAIA National Championship last March with a 32-4 overall record and a third title overall. The Saints are 1-0 after defeating 11th ranked Indiana Wesleyan on a last-second shot Monday night. TMU shot 38.2% from the field in that season opening game led by Emily Simon who scored 15 points with six rebounds. Senior Courtney Hurst, a four-year starter, added 10 points and four rebounds. The Saints play at #4 Carroll College Friday night in Helena before traveling to Great Falls.
Providence is 3-0 after taking silver at the 2022 FISU Americas Games last month in Mexico. The Argos are averaging 60.8 points per game while giving up 46 ppg. They also have a +26.7 advantage in rebounding in the early season but are averaging just under 20 turnovers per game.
"Excited to have Thomas More here in Great Falls," says UP Head Coach Bill Himmelberg. "It is a great opportunity to see where we are nationally, they have been a powerhouse traditionally so it should be a great game."
Saturday's tip-off is set for 6 PM MDT and can be viewed online at www.upargos.com.
