CHANDLER, Ariz. - The University of Providence men started cold and could not find the shooting rhythm Sunday in a 67-50 loss to Menlo College (Calif.) at the Cactus Classic.
The Argos shot just 23.1% (6-26) and trailed at the half 33-22. 12 turnovers also led to the Oaks being able to capitalize offensively. In the second half, Providence improved to 30% but still struggled for consistency in falling behind by as many as 28 in dropping a second straight game in the desert.
Eric Milner and Caleb Currington each scored eight to lead the Argos as no one hit double figures. Jake Olsen and Jackson Esary each chipped in with six. Currington also pulled down a team-high of eight rebounds.
Khalid Price paced the Oaks with a game-high 18, making 6 of 10 from the three-point line. Menlo (11-3) finished 24-64 from the field (37.5%) including an 8 of 23 effort from beyond the arc.
The Argos have Monday off in Chandler before closing play at the Cactus Classic Tuesday with an early morning game against Ottawa University-Arizona. That game along with all tournament games can be watched at University of Providence Argos - YouTube as well as www.upargos.com
