CORVALLIS, Ore. – University of Providence men's wrestler Jordan Komac was named the WVT Laboratory Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Komac, the 16th-ranked wrestler in the 165 lb. weight class, went 3-0 in three seperate duals for the Argos this week, leading the team to three conference victories. He defeated #5 Frederick Padilla (Vanguard) via decision in his first match before winning against #11 Keller Rock (Embry-Riddle). He ended the weekend with a 14-3 major decision over Josiah Opp of Arizona Christian.

"I think it's a very-deserved honor based on the week that he had," head coach Steve Komac said. "He looked good. He definitely feels like he has room to grow. He's starting to feel like he's wrestling the way he wants to wrestle. I think he will continue to grow over the next couple of weeks."

The weekend marks the second straight week of competition for Komac, who was sidelined for nearly two months with an injury. Despite the missed time, he looks like he hasn't missed a beat.

"I think he really enjoyed wrestling last weekend," Komac said. "He's been sidelined for almost two months for us. We're getting close to wrapping up our season and it was definitely time to get on the map and get moving forward. He was excited about going before he went and it really shows that he was in a good place. He's definitely recovered and ready to wrestle."

Komac will now turn his attention to a dual against #8 MSU-Northern, who the team will host in the McLaughlin Center on Thursday. Komac lost his matchup against Chase Short, who is currently ranked 6th in the nation, when the teams dueled earlier in the season.

"He can go with anybody in the country," Komac said. "He knows that. Sometimes there's a small detail here and there that can make a big difference. That's where his focus is at. He wants to be in the right place mentally and physically."
