Argos Remain in Top 25 in NAIA National Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Providence women's basketball team came in at #19 in the latest NAIA National Rankings that were released on Wednesday.

"We're thrilled that we're in the poll," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "It's nice to be in there and be recognized by the coaches. More importantly our RPI and strength of schedule is pretty strong, so we're setting ourselves up in a good position for the National Tournament. I'm still pleased we are in there."

The Argos (22-5, 9-3), who was previously ranked #16, saw their 12-game winning streak come to and end last week, but got back on track with a win against MSU-Northern.

The squad is one of four Frontier Conference teams represented in the poll. Carroll College is the highest ranked team at #7, while Rocky Mountain College is ranked #16. Montana Western is receiving votes, but didn't crack the Top 25.

"We're definitely one of the strongest conferences in the country," Himmelberg said. "The fact that we play each other three times makes it even harder. We know each other so well. When you do that for a number of years like we have, there's no real secret. There isn't a big surprise someone is going to pull out and do something really different."

The Argos will take the floor next at 5:00 p.m., Feb. 10 in Dillon, Mont. against Montana Western.
