BOISE, Idaho –
Ben Kaul and
Kielar Jones both finished inside the Top 10 of the Frontier Conference Golf Championships, which concluded Tuesday at the Banbury Golf Club in Boise, Idaho on Tuesday.
Kaul finished in 8
th place on the men's side, finishing 18 strokes above par for the tournament. Jones finished in 10
th place, shooting 52 strokes above par. Both golfers finished 11
th at the Frontier Conference Championships last season.
"I'm very proud of both of them for finishing in the Top 10 among this level of competition," head coach
Spencer Williams said. "They are both highly-capable golfers and I'm glad that they demonstrated that against a ton of adversity. It's quite the accomplishment and I'm very proud of both them."
As a team, the men's team retained their 3
rd place spot, finishing with a score of 990, good for 138 strokes above par. They finished behind the team champion Rocky Mountain College, who finished 33 strokes above par, and 2
nd place Montana Tech, who finished with a +52. The Argos edged out Carroll College for third by 13 strokes.
"I'm proud of our guys for finishing in third place," Williams said. "We are a pretty young team comparatively and we held our own in a high stakes environment. I'm proud of all five of them."
Colton Stodghill had his best round of the tournament, shooting an 83 to jump up to tie for 15
th place. He coincidentally tied his teammate
Connor Mora, as both Argos finished the three-day event 40 strokes above par.
Trey Sharp finished in 19
th place (+49), while
Trenton Olson tied for 20
th place (+50).
On the women's side,
Kate Murack had her best round of the day, shooting a 99 to finish in 20
th place (+106). As a team the women finished in 6
th place, scoring 1,447 points (+595).
The play at this tournament was the best the team played all season, which ended with the conclusion of the tournament.
"Collectively we played our best golf out here," Williams said. "It's always good to end your season with your best effort, which is impressive considering the lack of course time we get with Montana winters. I'm proud of all our efforts. We saw a lot of growth from a lot of players throughout the season. We have a lot to be proud of."
