Kaul Named 2nd Team All-Conference

WHITEFISH, Mont. – The Frontier Conference announced the member of both their All-Conference and Academic All-Conference golf teams on Friday.

Ben Kaul was the highlight for the squad, as the senior from Great Falls was recognized as 2nd Team All-Conference. Kaul recorded four Top 10 finishes this year in the fall, including a 5th place finish at the Montana Tech Invitational.

"Ben was sharp for us this fall," head coach Spencer Williams said. "He can compete with anybody in the conference. I'm really looking forward to see how he performs this week at the conference championships."

Kaul was also a member of the All-Academic team. He was joined on the team by teammates Connor Mora, Trey Sharp and Colton Stodghill. All four teammates are studying business administration.

The women's team also was well-represented on the Academic All-Conference team, having the most student-athletes on the team than anyone else in the conference. Keilar Jones (criminal justice), Kate Murack (exercise science) and Kim Simoneau (exercise science) all qualified for the team.

To be a member of the Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing and maintain a 3.25 GPA.

"I'm proud of those guys for being recognized for their hard work," Williams said. "It takes a lot to be successful student-athlete and they all do a great job in both capacities. They are great role models both in the classroom and on the course. I'm happy that they're being recognized."

Trey Sharp and Kate Murack were also recognized by the conference as Champions of Character. The Champion of Character is an award given to the player that best represents the five core values of NAIA athletics: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

"I can't say enough about what kind of people those two are," Williams said. "They are fantastic ambassadors for our program and everything that we strive to be about."

The awards come out a few days before the Frontier Conference Championships, which will begin on Monday in Boise, Idaho. The three-day event will conclude on Wednesday.
