Argo players earn Frontier awards

Great Falls, Mont. - Two University of Providence volleyball players were honored by the Frontier Conference for their play at the league's preseason tournament this weekend.  

Freshman Bella Thompson was named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Setter of the Week. Thompson is a 5-foot-7 freshman setter from Kapahulu, Hawaii. Providence went 2-2 at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament hosted by Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont. The Argos defeated Carroll College 3-2 and MSU-Northern 3-1 and lost to Montana Western 0-3 and Rocky Mountain College 1-3. Thompson averaged 9.50 assists and 3.19 digs per set. 

Jenna Thorne is the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week. Thorne, a 5-11 junior from Karitane, New Zealand, averaged 3.88 kills and 4.44 digs per set over the weekend. In the finale against MSU-Northern Saturday, Thorne hit .444 from the court and 4.50 kills per set.
