Havre, Mont. - Alyssa Pretty Weasel had 13 kills and the Skylights of MSU-Northern knocked off the University of Providence 3-1 Wednesday in Frontier Conference volleyball action. The Skylights won the first set on the second game point after fighting off an Argo set point in a back-and-forth affair. MSU-Northern would take the second set before Providence battled to a third set win. In the fourth, MSU-N produced 16 kills to take the match 27-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-19.
Jessica Chvilicek added 12 kills for the Skylights who improve to 1-1 in Frontier play. Leading the Argos was Jenna Thorne who recorded 10 kills with 22 digs. Taylor Christensen tied for the team lead with 22 digs as well. Zoe Naugle continued her good play in the loss with eight kills and nine blocks. Bella Thompson had 35 assists in the loss which dropped the Argos to 0-2 in league action. Providence was held to a .078 hitting percentage as each team struggled with errors. MSU-Northern hit just .081 with 35 errors.
Providence is 0-2 in the Frontier for the first time since 2017 when the Argos dropped the first three matches in the league that season and lost to the Skylights for the first time since September 21, 2017. It was also the first loss in Havre since the 2016 season.
