BUTTE, Mont. - Providence jumped out to a 12-0 start in the first 3:15 of the first quarter and the Argo women's basketball team kept up that momentum in a 74-61 win over Montana Tech Thursday night in Butte in Frontier Conference action.
Maddy Dixon scored eight of the first 12 points and finished with a dozen in the first quarter helping Providence to a 24-11 lead after 10 minutes. Dixon would finish with 20 on 7 of 9 shooting as the Argos won for the second time in three Frontier games. She was also a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Reed Hazard scored a game-high 23 points going 8 of 14 from the field, including a 7 of 10 effort from the three-point line. Brooklyn Harn added 10 points while McKenna Reggear chipped in with nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

"We played really well, the girls followed the game plan," says Head Coach Bill Himmelberg. "Getting a win on the road is good, we needed that one. That (HPER Complex) is a tough place to play. Reed shot the ball well, Maddy played great. We shot the ball well again. We just need to keep improving and getting better every day."
Tech (6-13, 2-7) was led by Aubrie Rademacher's 13 points, Tavia Rooney had 12, Ally Cleverly added 11 with Dani Urick scoring 10 points. The Orediggers were 20-56 from the field and turned the ball over 14 times which led to 18 points for UP. The Argos committed just seven turnovers, the second fewest in a game this season.
Providence now sits 13-9 overall, 3-6 in the Frontier and will host league leading Carroll College Saturday at 2 p.m. The Saints are ranked 11th in the NAIA and with Thursday's 65-47 win over No. 20 Rocky Mountain College, are 8-1 in the conference, 17-5 overall.
