Providence men suffer tough loss at #13 Tech

BUTTE, Mont. - Kenny Curtis and Caleb Bellach matched each other nearly shot for shot but it was Bellach's team coming away with a 95-82 win as No. 13 Montana Tech beat the University of Providence Saturday afternoon in Butte.  

Curtis scored 17 first-half points shooting 6 of 9 from the field, making 4 of 6 from the three-point line. Bellach had 16 points in the first 20 minutes as he shot 5 of 9 with three triples. Providence led by as many as seven less than six minutes into the game before Tech started its comeback.  

Bellach finished with a game-high 26 points, making four three-pointers. Tech shot over 53% from the field in the second half to secure its 15th victory in 17 games this season. Michael Ure added 23 points with Asa Williams (13) and Keely Bake (11) also scoring in double figures.  

Curtis totaled 23 points in total, going 6 of 11 from beyond the arc. Davien Harris-Williams scored 14, Jake Olsen and Sam Vining each had 11 with Vining also grabbing eight rebounds. Marcus Stephens also scored 10 in the loss. Providence was 29 of 65 (44.6%) and was outrebounded 39-29, including an 11-8 Tech advantage in offensive rebounds leading to a 22-5 advantage in second chance points.  

The Argos fall to 8-9 overall, 2-2 in the Frontier Conference. Tech improves to 3-1 in the Frontier. Providence will play at Carroll College Thursday night.
