GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer program fell 6-0 to Oregon Tech Saturday afternoon.
The Owls (8-3-3) struck first in the ninth minute when a loose ball found Rosendo Juarez-Flores in front of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
Oregon Tech would extend their lead to two when a corner kick was headed off the crossbar and into the back of the net.
Argos (7-5-2) would threaten midway through the first half, but freshman
Kabiso Gedeon's' shot went just wide of the goal.
With six minutes left in the half the Owls extended their lead after a free kick from just outside the box went under the Argos wall to make it 3-0. UP was out shot 8-4 in the first half.
Two minutes into the second half OIT scored their fourth goal of the game when Ryan Pearson's throw in connected with DeShone Myles who headed it past the goalkeeper.
A few minutes later the Argos had an opportunity when freshman
Jose Vasquez intercepted a pass, but his shot went over the crossbar.
Despite late pressure by the Argos, Oregon Tech would score another two goals to win the match 6-0.
The Argos return to action Friday, Oct. 20 when they visit Northwest University. The first touch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Kirkland, Wash.
