Women's Soccer Falls to Northwest University

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program fell to Northwest University 1-0 Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-5-1) struck first in the 7th minute when Colette Liston found the back of the net to give Northwest University the lead.

The Argos (2-11-1) would answer by taking it right down the field, but sophomore Ernestina S. Ofori could not get enough on her shot as it was saved by the goalkeeper.

UP had another chance midway through the first half but sophomore Kailey Camper's shot from outside the box was saved.

With five minutes left in the first half a loose ball found junior Mel Alvarado-Lopez but her shot went off the crossbar and was cleared by the Eagles defenders.

In the second half the Argos threatened early but junior Malan Flygare's shot from outside the box was stopped by the Eagles.

Despite late pressure from the Argos, they were unable to find the equalizer falling to Northwest University 1-0.

The Argos return to action Saturday, Oct. 21 when they visit The Evergreen State College. The first touch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Olympia, Wash.
