HELENA, Mont. – After leading #18 University of Providence to victories over #9 Vanguard University and Stephens College this weekend, graduate transfer
Ashlee Maldonado has been named the Erk Hotels Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Maldonado is from Sunnyside, Wash. and scored 21pts in both victories and also averaged 7.5ast, 5reb, and 1.5 steals per game over the weekend. In the victory over Stephens, Maldonado scored or assisted on every point in the first quarter and scored 12 points in the fourth quarter going 2-2 from the field and 8-8 from the free throw line.
This is Maldonado's second player of the week award this season with her first coming on Oct. 30 after leading UP to a victory over #4 Indiana Wesleyan. She is the sixth Argo in the last three seasons to be named player of the week along with
Maddy Dixon,
Keanna Salave'a,
Brooklyn Harn,
Parker Esary, and
Emilee Maldonado. Â

Bill Himmelberg on Maldonado's performance stated, "Ashlee did an unbelievable job leading our team and stepping up when we needed her most. She always gives her best effort and consistently puts our team in positions to be successful."
The Argos will be back in action Nov. 24 when they travel to Helena, Mont. for matchups versus RV Southern Oregon and #10 LC State. Tip-off versus Southern Oregon is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the PE Center. Â
