ATHERTON, Calif. -- The University of Providence women's wrestling program competed at the Menlo Open throughout the day Sunday.
The Argos brought home titles in two weight classes with #1 ranked sophomore
Erin Hikiji placing first at 101 and #2 ranked junior
Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp taking first at 136.
Hikiji went 4-0 on the day with three tech falls and one pin. She outscored her opponents 30-0 including her 10-0 defeat of #4 Tianna Fernandez in the championship match. Estrella-Beauchamp also went 4-0 with two wins and two decision victories. She defeated #7 Zaynah McBryde in the semi-finals and pinned River Todd in 30 seconds to take home the championship at 136.
The Argos also had three other top five finishers with freshman
Isabelle Asuncion taking second place, #7 ranked freshman
Paige Morales taking fourth place, and #4 ranked senior
Lexi Tupuola taking fifth place.
The Argos will be back in action Dec. 1-2 when they host the Battle of the Rockies. UP will be wrestling all day in the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls, Mont.
