HAVRE, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program cruised to a 113-63 victory over Concordia University (Edmonton) Sunday afternoon.
The Thunder (4-6) would score the first points of the game when Alex Mclean found Yaadyir Dhaliwal for a three-pointer.
Concordia would hit another three pointer but a layup by senior
Jake Olsen and a three by senior
Sam Vining tied the game at six.
Both teams would trade baskets but a 14-1 run by the Argos (5-3) gave UP a 22-9 lead halfway through the first half.
UP would stay hot, outscoring the Thunder 30-15 for the rest of the first half to go into the break leading by 28. Olsen led the way for the Argos with nine first half points and seniors
Jaylin Reed and
Davien Harris-Williams added eight of their own.
The Thunder would score the first points of the second half but a pair of layups by Olsen stretched the Argo lead to 30.
Over the next two minutes the Argos would extend their lead to 36 behind a 6-0 run from Harris-Williams.
UP would cruise the rest of the way defeating Concordia University (Edmonton) 113-63. The Argos had five double-digit scorers in
Jake Olsen with 15pts,
Davien Harris-Williams had 14pts,
Jackson Esary scored 13pts, and
Freddy Brown III and
Sam Norum each had 12pts.Â
