KIRKLAND, Wash. - The University of Providence women's softball team dropped a pair of one-run games Friday night to Northwest University at Kirkland, Washington in Cascade Conference play.  

The Argos dropped game one 4-3 after falling behind 4-0 after the first five innings, and a seventh-inning rally fell short despite having the tying and go-ahead runs on base.  

In game two, the Argos led 7-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored the winning run on a walk-off single with two outs. 

Carter Thornton homered in game two and took the loss in the circle going 6.2 innings, allowing eight runs on 14 hits to fall to 1-5. Taylor Mathews and Ryen Palmer each collected two hits in the game.  

Mathews, Jaden Ruiz, and Gracie Fleming had one hit apiece in the game one loss. Deven Creech tossed six innings with three strikeouts, allowing four runs.  

The Argos drop to 6-28 overall, 3-22 in CCC action and wrap up the series Saturday in Kirkland. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m. and can be watched at www.upargos.com.
