GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence track and field teams will send six student-athletes to compete at the NAIA National Outdoor Championships. The three-day event, which takes place at Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. will begin on Wednesday, May 24 before concluding on Friday.
Terra Bertsch,  McKenzie ClarkConner Allyson, Calla Haldorson, Martinez Tatiana, and Pryor Imhotep   will be competing for the Argos.
Terra Bertsch will try to improve on her 3.66 M jump from April 14th in the pole vault competition.
McKenzie Clark will battle through a sore knee and make her third returning trip to Nationals where she will be throwing the javelin.
Allyson Conner looks to improve her hammer throw best of this year of 52.67 M in hopes of an All-American status.
Calla Haldorson and Tatiana Martinez, who was an All American with a 3rd place finish last year, will try to toss 42.48 and 43.44 M respectively, or better, at the National Championships in the discus.
The Argos men's team will be represented by Imhotep Pryor who competes in the discuss. He could beat his last toss of 47.92 M which he accomplished only a short time ago in the Charlie Merrifield Twilight Event.
"It's really exciting to have this many student athletes going down and representing the University," throwing coach Alan Cress said. "We're going to be there all week because we don't just have one event. It's an exciting way to end the year. When we're recruiting, we have a lot of people comment about how we have a few athletes competing in different events at the National Championships. It is a big deal to have that many going. We have a chance to do really well and break some more records."

McKenzie Clark returns to the National Championships after finishing 11th  two years ago and had a throw of over 45 m but was called for a scratch last year in the javelin. The junior, from Carter, Mont. is currently ranked in the Top 5 in the javelin and has goals to be a National Champion this year.
"Nationals is a different experience," McKenzie said. "It gives us a chance to compete on the big stage and we don't get that very often being in Montana. It's a good time to shine."

Throwing Coach Alan Cress added, "She's well within that range to go out and become an All-American but with her past experience we could have a National Champion if she does what we know she can. She just needs to get out there and be confident from that very first throw. The experience these past couple years is going to help her a lot. She's going to be a lot more comfortable. Hopefully she's able to relax and do well from the very first throw."
