Great Falls, Mont -University of Providence women's basketball coach Bill Himmelberg has announced the signing of Ashlee Maldonado. Maldonado, a 5-foot-7 guard from Sunnyside, Washington recently completed her Undergraduate Degree at Santa Clara University and entered the transfer portal. Ashlee will have two years of eligibility remaining while pursuing her masters degree in organizational management.

During her time at Santa Clara, Ashlee was a major contributor starting 19 games in 2022-23 season. She averaged 6 points per game while shooting 33% from the three-point line, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds.

"Ashlee will be a major impact player in the Frontier Conference," said Himmelberg. "She is a proven winner who has competed at the highest level."

"We recruited Ashlee from her junior year in high school and have followed her stellar career at Santa Clara. Once we saw her enter the transfer portal, we reached out with high hopes she would consider Providence. We are super excited we are the best fit for her. Ashlee has the ability to make an impact not only on our program, but the NAIA."

Maldonado is no strange name around the University of Providence. Ashlee is the sister of 2022 graduate and four time All-American, Emilee Maldonado.
Ashlee will join Emilee at Providence this fall as Emilee is returning to Providence as assistant coach in charge of player development.
