SALEM, Ore. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program fell 3-1 to Corban University Friday afternoon.
The Warriors (3-3-4) threatened early but were unable to get past junior goalkeeper
Maya Amundson as she picked up a pair of saves.
The Argos (2-5-1) would strike first after a corner kick by senior
Julia Tilton was headed past the goalkeeper by sophomore
Dani Waialeale for her second goal of the year. Â
Corban University had a chance late in the first half, but the Warriors shot was too high and sailed over the crossbar. UP was out shot 15-3 in the first 45 minutes.
The Warriors came storming back early in the second half scoring two goals in two minutes to retake the lead 2-1. Â
Corban would extend their lead in the 55
th minute when a cross into the box found Alysia Alvarado who beat the goalkeeper to make it 3-1.
The Argos had a chance in the 59
th minute but freshman
Shea Waters' shot was saved by the Warriors.
Despite some late pressure by the Argos, they were unable to get past the Warriors defense losing the match 3-1.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 30 when they visit Bushnell University. The first touch is scheduled for 4 p.m. (MDT) in Eugene, Ore.Â
