EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program fell 3-0 to Bushnell University Saturday afternoon.
The Argos (2-6-1) threatened early on a corner kick by senior
Julia Tilton, but sophomore
Dani Waialeale header went just high of the crossbar.
The Beacons (3-3-1) would strike first when a lead pass into the box found Emily Puita and she beat the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
UP had another chance in the 41
st minute but Waialeale's shot was saved by the sliding goalkeeper.
Early in the second half the Beacons would extend their lead to two after a penalty kick found the back of the net. Â
Bushnell would score another goal in the 61
st minute to give the Beacons a 3-0 lead. Â
The Argos would respond a minute later with a corner kick by senior
Reilyn Davis, but sophomore
Kailey Camper's shot was just wide of the net.
Despite a late rally by the Argos, they were unable to cut into the Bushnell lead losing the match 3-0.
The Argos return to action Friday, Oct. 6, when they host the College of Idaho. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Argo Field. Â Â
