Maldonado Honored With Third Player of the Week Award

HELENA, Mont. – After leading #16 University of Providence to victories over #12 Rocky Mountain College and Montana Western this weekend, graduate transfer Ashlee Maldonado has been named the Erk Hotels Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Maldonado is from Sunnyside, Wash. and scored 33pts including 16 in the first quarter in the victory over #12 Rocky Mountain College. On the weekend she averaged 22.5pts, 9reb, 5ast, and 2.5stl. Maldonado was 7-10 from three against RMC which is the second most three-pointers in a single game in Argo Athletics history.

This is Maldonado's third player of the week award this season with her first two coming on Oct. 30 and Nov. 20. She is the sixth Argo in the last three seasons to be named player of the week along with Maddy Dixon, Keanna Salave'a, Brooklyn Harn, Parker Esary, and Emilee Maldonado.  

Head coach Bill Himmelberg on Maldonado's performance stated, "Ashlee continues to do an unbelievable job leading our team. She not only can score efficiently but is always putting her teammates in great spots as well."

The Argos will be back in action Jan. 18 when they travel to Havre, Mont. for a conference matchup against MSU-Northern. Tip-off versus the Northern Lights is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in the Armory Gymnasium.
