Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to Carroll College 89-81 Saturday night.
The Fighting Saints (12-8) started the game on a 7-0 run but a layup by junior Kenny Curtis and a tip in by senior Jevon Burton kept the game within three.
Over the next five minutes Carroll would slowly extend their lead out to 13, but three-pointers by senior Davien Harris-Williams and senior Jaylin Reed made it 22-15.
Each side would add another three until a 6-0 run from the Fighting Saints pushed the Carroll lead out to 13 midway through the first half. Â
Each side would trade baskets until a 7-2 run from the Argos (10-10) behind a three from Curtis and free throws from Reed cut the lead to six.
Carroll would end the half on a 4-0 run to take a 10-point lead into the break. Reed led the way for the Argos with 12 points in the first half.
Reed would score the first points of the second half, and following a jumper by Carroll, four straight from Burton cut the Fighting Saints lead to seven.
Both teams would trade baskets until a 7-0 run behind a three from senior Freddy Brown III and a jumper from Curtis made it a four-point game seven minutes into the second half.
Carroll would quickly extend their lead 13 and despite late threes from seniors Eric Milner and Sam Vining, the Argos fell to Carroll College 89-91.
The Argos will be back in action Feb. 1 when they visit Montana Western. Tip-off versus the Bulldogs is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Dillon, Mont.
