FORT WAYNE, IN -- The University of Providence women's wrestling program competed at the Warrior Open throughout the day Saturday.
The Argos had five athletes place in the top three at the Warrior Open with the highlight coming with #6 freshman
Paige Morales defeating #6 Tehani Soares in the championship match to take home first place.
#4 freshman
Alyssa Randles placed second and picked up a ranked win defeating #10 Emily Frost of Iowa 14-4 in the semifinals.
#5 senior
Sadie Antoque also placed second and picked up a ranked win over #6 Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist in the semifinals.
#1 sophomore
Erin Hikiji and #2 junior
Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp each placed third at the Warrior open and both picked up multiple ranked victories. Hikiji defeated #7 Makayla Young 10-0 and #4 Alyssa Quezaire 16-6 and Estrella-Beauchamp pinned both #12 Gabriella Perez and #19 Angie Prado.
#5 sophomore
Katelyn Lewis was another top five finisher going 4-2 at the Warrior Open. Lewis pinned #12 Nikita Dhaliwal and defeated #10 Faith Macharia by DQ.
Freshman
Omi Kulukulualani-Sales and #9 senior
Paige Respicio also picked up ranked wins with Kulukulualani-Sales pinning #16 Valeria Ahumada in 2:55 and Respicio pinning #17 Olivia Messerly in 1:41.

Matt Atwood on his team's performance stated, "I was very pleased with how we performed today! We lost some battles, as it was a very tough event, but we had some very impactful wins as well! I think this tournament provided confidence for some and the motivation for others who needed it! This was another weekend where the girls put UP on the map. The team turned a lot of heads this weekend and they were a blast to watch do what they do best!"
The Argos will be back in action Feb. 9 when they host #4 Southern Oregon for senior night. Wrestlers will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center. Â Â Â
